Montieth Pulls Back to Back Wins at Lincoln

Brian Montieth is said to be no stranger to victory lane and proved his racing abilities on Saturday as he picked up his 37th career Lincoln Speedway win in the thrilling Welden Sterner Memorial.  Fans were on their feet for the 33 lap feature as The Edge raced alongside veteran driver Fred Rahmer for the lead.  Brian drove the #69 for the evening in honor of the late Welden Sterner.  After time trials, Montieth qualified 6th starting him on the inside of row two for his heat race.  Qualifying 2nd in the third heat put Montieth in the inversion for the redraw of the main event.  His 5th starting spot gave him many benefits to advance, but early cautions held him back from claiming positions.  He later was able to chase down the leader on lap 30 to claim his $6,900 victory for the second week in a row at Lincoln.

“We have been struggling bad trying to figure out these tires,” said Montieth, “we're definitely not great, but we having fun trying to figure it out.”  This was Brian’s third win of the season.  As the team preps for the upcoming busy month of May, they are off to great start to compete with the World of Outlaws that come to town in the middle of the month.  They will be making stops to Lincoln Speedway on Wednesday the 15th, and Williams Grove on the 17th and 18th.  Next week, both tracks will have Outlaw tune-up nights.  For more updates, be sure to follow Brian and the Premier Racing Team on Twitter. @brianmonthieth @premierracing21.
